Kevin McKee's Escape was written for the 2006 University of Maryland Graduate Brass Quintet. Inspired by Anthony DiLorenzo and members of the Center City Brass Quintet, McKee’s goal was to write a rhythmic and exciting piece that would be enjoyable to play and would serve well as a recital closer. McKee's loose narrative, which serves as the inspiration for this piece, was that of someone getting caught in a violent storm atop Castle Crags (a jagged rock spire formation in Northern California) and his quick decent or, Escape.
This elegantly composed chamber album from Ellen Tsai has a playful feel, almost like the soundtrack to a storybook. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 23, 2022
